When you buy tyres from abroad, the recycling fee is usually not paid. You become a manufacturer because you put these tyres on the Czech market. You are therefore obliged to charge a recycling fee to your end customers and to ensure take-back of 80% of the imported quantity (weight in kilograms). If you don't want to worry, buy from domestic wholesalers.
Let`s be honest
We've got a bit of a problem here. Dealers often buy tyres from abroad and do not acknowledge their obligation to ensure back-collection. According to estimates, the amount of waste tyres that are not claimed is around 12% of the total amount of waste tyres produced. That's roughly 10,000 tonnes! These dealers are breaking the law and it is only a matter of time before the police get them.

How to avoid obligations?
If you are buying tyres abroad, make sure your supplier is registered with one of the back-collection systems. If so, you don't need to worry, the recycling fee is handled and paid by the supplier for you. If the supplier is not registered, the obligation is passed on to you, which means not only having to pay the recycling fee, but more importantly increased administration for your company.
